Another consideration for a brief was some form of brand identity for Kathryn Tyler, an interior designer. Her house was featured on Grand Designs and got me interested in Swedish interior design and the architecture of the house. She spoke about sourcing her furniture from vintage shops running with the Swedish, slightly modernest theme which works well within my own developing design principles. I will continue browsing other people / places / brands to consider for identity brief and work from there. Again the creative / culture sectors are a growing focus audience in my work.
Kathryn studied Graphic Design at Falmouth College of Arts. After graduating she took an internship assisting the Interiors Editor of Wallpaper* Magazine. This experience fuelled her fascination with furniture and architecture and culminated in turning her attention towards the world of interiors.
Kathryn started her career by establishing the interior department at Absolute Design where she developed a style direction which references Scandinavian design and utilises iconographic details.
In 2004 Kathryn set up her own interior design consultancy, Linea Studio, where she has developed a reputation for creating distinctive user-focused interiors that challenge client briefs and result in imaginative and engaging spaces with enduring appeal. Her steadfast commitment to using local manufacturers, sustainably-sourced materials and upcycled furniture paired with her approach to creative design and professional management ensures that she translates clients’ ideas into successful sustainable projects, which work both aesthetically and commercially.
