After my discussion with Andy a few weeks ago I realised the logo needed refining, not only to make it more distinguishable from the initial typeface but also to reflect the principles of the company. When speaking with Nils he stated that a key stage in the design process was refining the un-necessary until it can't be refined any more. This was my basic concept behind the logo, for example I have taken the tittle of the J as its a distinguishable letter even without it. I tried to do the same with the i but it started looking like moda. I also worked on other experiments taking away as many parts of the logo as possible but the refined letters were more effective. Once the logo is embossed / de-bossed it will lose some of its bold character and become a more subtle mark, again more reflective of the company principles.

The typeface reflects the refining process and although a sans serif might have been more appropriate the charachter and quality of the curves is more reflective of the companies products.
