After discussing printing options with the commercial printers we realised that we needed an alternative printing solution, as the folding the printing costs were simply to high for the budget that woodwork have. Instead we have decided to go for a two colour design using a Riso Printers in Leeds. This meant making some changes to the publication & poster designs. The new design uses black for the type to maintain legibility and blue for the images to separate them from the information held within the text. As the images are only invitations towards what is in the show, not having them in full colour isn't an issue. They can also be used to work towards the website design allowing a consistent brand between each deliverable.
The back of the poster uses an alternative fold to the catalogue styled images as this reduced the costing even more. We may have to fold them ourselves but with 9 students from woodwork helping it should only take half an hour or so.
The new fold also means that there are 9 sections, one for each student. This functions as a far more suitable and fair method of dividing the space on the poster.
The grid was fairly simply, mainly using the folds in the page as margins and using a modular grid to arrange the images and type. This doesn't show the modular grid but illustrates how the layout works and the functionality of the hierarchy, allowing each individual space for a header, the name of their product, a bio and then separated from that information their email address. As all the information is kept consistent for each student, the relevant contact information and bios are easily accessible to the viewer.
