Tactile Typography

This really interesting workshop utilises everyday objects as tools for creating typography. Similarly to my grids the user is provided with a basis and structure that they are asked to create from and work around. This has given me more confidence in my own grids, showing that they have great potential to provide a basis for the workshop, yet allowing freedom to develop and show the character of their work.

TACTILE WORKSHOP ~ Run By Demian Conrad
'Five days of workshop about how create typography with everyday objects. I asked the students to shot-down their computers and start to render typography only with objects. Any kind of material and tecnquiques is allowed to give shape to the concept. Using just objects the students are obliged to find solutions outside of the virtual environment and focus the mind outside of the box.'

What I really like about this workshop is that there doesn't seem to be pressure to create really beautiful and well executed typography, which makes it relevant and comparable to my own workshop. I understand that my audience (or myself) possess the technical ability to produce really beautiful typography, but I want to use it as a gateway for the individuals to explore it further.
