Em/ Debossing Plates

I wanted to emboss the logo on the front without any ink. The idea being Inoda & Sveje utilise materials and the design process to strip back a design until there is no detail that isn't functionally necessary. I wanted to achieve a similar idea, rather than inking the design the embossing would raise the logo off the surface and make the choice of stock a more influential factor. I printed the design on a variety of stocks to get an idea of the final product.

On the other side I planned on inking the type and pressing it to get a de—bossed effect, however the etching plate didn't work out as planned because the type was too small and the serifs disappeared and ruined the structure of the letters. Instead I will screen print the back to get a better finish on the small point size.

All the stocks are relatively pure and simple and can easily be related back to the work of the company. However the white seemed a bit vibrant, and might have a nicer effect with the text side. The grey and brown stocks are the most successful, and what I will run with for the moment. It might be nice to separate the two parts of the company by stock colour and relevance to practice.
