Website Experience

I came across this website last year after reading...
E, Lupton (2004). Thinking with Type. New York: Princeton Architectural Press.

The designer of the website, Luna Maurer created a grid for the website to work from. The vertical axis represents departments in the school, and the horizontal axis represents types of program information. As the mouse hovers across the squares they warp and change colour indicating whether each square holds information or not. Unfortunately the site is no longer in existence as the primary resource for the school but its interesting design is undoubtedly why it still exists as a secondary resource.

The experience the website creates is not particularly functional and its possible to say that the user may become more interested in the process and interaction of playing with the squares. None the less the design is interesting and original, and this experience starts to become the function of the website. Although its not a particularly logical experience it does create a different experience which could be more likely to bring people back to the website. It is this sort of experience and engagement that I want to continue to research for my context publication.
