Woodwork

As the concept was already there from the end of year show pitch I thought it would be worth exploring a few more ideas towards the final product. Each concept plays on a different aesthetic and set of visuals.

The first plays on the idea of progression and refinement — the labour that comes before the fruit. I created this series of shapes starting in a cube and refining them into a pyramid. These also reflect the process of cutting down wood to create the final form. Might be nice to do using physical pieces of wood and photographing them.

The second just uses images of the students work, slightly less conceptual but I feel it might provide a route that the students on the course will prefer.

The last is a slightly more abstract use of the shapes, again using the idea of refinement and 'labour'. I don't feel this design is aesthetically appropriate for the brief but it shows another route that can be taken using the concept 'the fruits of our labour'.
