Catalogue Ideas

I have been working on spreads for the catalogue and testing print outs to get a better idea of how the compositions will work and if the type and baseline are set at appropriate sizes. I have decided to run with an A5 format for the moment but I will make more decisions surrounding for format when I have worked out the content for the pages. The header type is the same as the logo, and works really well with the sans serif for body copy. Both typefaces are simple and effective communicating some of the brands key principles.

These images show some of my basic notes and amendments that are needed to improve the composition and function of the layouts. The top image is of spreads about the brands design principles, the second is product spreads and the last is cover designs. Creating a considerable amount of variations for each one will allow me to create a grid that is flexible but allows for consistent function across the needs for spreads in the publication.

The Scribd documents show the original ideas including how the spreads work and whether pages need an entire spread or single side of a single side. The leading on the body copy is a bit tight and disrupts the flow of reading, I will amend the baseline when I start working on the final publication and go from there.
