VCE Season of Excellence by AFOM

This project has a wonderful blend of traditional print and experimental signage. One aspect that particularly stands out to me is the budget for the signage, because its made from paper it would have been relatively cheap to produce. This project is just one in a beautiful arrange of work from A Friend of Mine, a Melbourne based studio.

The vibrant colours and stencil style type sit well across a range of applications, created an all round beautiful identity. Its friendly tone of voice created from the hands on aesthetic appeals to a broad range of audiences, appropriate to the context of the exhibition.

Aesthetically its not my favourite piece of work from their portfolio but the approach they have taken is relevant and affective towards communicating the event.
The simple use of layered paper and peg system creates a low budget but high spec finish. The well considered colour combinations are relevant to the information that they display and offer an interesting signage system to navigate the exhibition. When working on the D&AD space creating signage that pushes the boundaries through material and concept will make LCA stand out from others pitching their stools at the event.
This image shows the real simplicity of the signage, the shapes and finish are relatively complex using the coloured paper to create a vibrant and interesting pallet. Also as paper is light hanging it doesn't require any form of permanent fixtures again working with a smaller budget.

I can take a lot from this project and will start thinking about how the shapes could be reworked to create a unique identity for the course.
