Where Chefs Eat by Kobi Benezri
-
Beautiful publication from Kobi Benezri, outlining where chefs eat in different cities across the globe. Using a phone-book style aesthetic and some beautiful printing on the cover the book features some wonderful typographic spreads filled with character. There is a lot to take from this book that can be applied to a few of my briefs, both the quality and originality of the book really struck me and can be seen across many other of the studios publications. I need to consider how I can manipulate the process of making the publications I am working on to get the best results possible.

The mix of styles taken from the locations featured in the book are utilised to create this beautiful typographic cover. The heavily embossed lettering works beautifully against the textured blue substrate.

No idea how this is done but I like it... I want to do some more research into interesting print methods that can make the yearbook and other publications I am working on really stand out.

However for the yearbook this will be defined by budget, so considering why the finishes have been used is a vital consideration.
The spreads really emphasise the locations included through the style and application of type. Each box related to both location and content of the food, for example the stereotyped fish and chip style typeface communicates the food and the aura of the city.
